DRIVING THROUGH WATER
Ifdrivingthroughdeeporstandingwaterisunavoidable,proceedvery
slowlyespeciallywhenthedepthisnotknown.Neverdrivethrough
waterthatishigherthanthebottomofthehubs(fortrucks)orthe
bottomofthewheelrims(forcars).Whendrivingthroughwater,
tractionorbrakecapabilitymaybelimited.Also,watermayenteryour
engine’sairintakeandseverelydamageyourengineoryourvehiclemay
stall.Drivingthroughdeepwaterwherethetransmissionvent
tubeissubmergedmayallowwaterintothetransmissionand
causeinternaltransmissiondamage.
Oncethroughthewater,alwaysdrythebrakesbymovingyour
vehicleslowlywhileapplyinglightpressureonthebrakepedal.
Wetbrakesdonotstopthevehicleasquicklyasdrybrakes.
