Normalcharacteristics
Onsome4WDmodels,theinitialshiftfromtwo-wheeldriveto4x4while
thevehicleismovingcancausesomemomentaryclunkandratcheting
sounds.Thisisthefrontdrivetraincominguptospeedandthe
automaticlockinghubsengagingandisnotcauseforconcern.
Sand
Whendrivingoversand,trytokeepallfourwheelsonthemostsolid
areaofthetrail.Avoidreducingthetirepressuresbutshifttoalower
gearanddrivesteadilythroughtheterrain.Applytheacceleratorslowly
andavoidspinningthewheels.
Ifyoumustreducethetirepressureforwhateverreasoninsand,make
sureyoure-inflatethetiresassoonaspossible.
Note:IfyourvehicleisequippedwiththeTirePressureMonitoring
System(TPMS),thesystemindicatorlightmayilluminatedependingon
howmuchairisreleasedfromyourtiresand/orhowlongyoudrivethe
vehicleundertheseconditions.
Avoidexcessivespeedbecausevehiclemomentumcanworkagainstyou
andcausethevehicletobecomestucktothepointthatassistancemay
berequiredfromanothervehicle.Remember,youmaybeabletoback
outthewayyoucameifyouproceedwithcaution.
