Highwayhazards
Nomatterhowcarefullyyoudrivethere’salwaysthepossibilitythatyou
mayeventuallyhaveaflattireonthehighway.Driveslowlytothe
closestsafeareaoutoftraffic.Thismayfurtherdamagetheflattire,but
yoursafetyismoreimportant.
Ifyoufeelasuddenvibrationorridedisturbancewhiledriving,oryou
suspectyourtireorvehiclehasbeendamaged,immediatelyreduceyour
speed.Drivewithcautionuntilyoucansafelypullofftheroad.Stopand
inspectthetiresfordamage.Ifatireisunder-inflatedordamaged,
deflateit,removewheelandreplaceitwithyoursparetireandwheel.If
youcannotdetectacause,havethevehicletowedtothenearestrepair
facilityortiredealertohavethevehicleinspected.
Tire and wheel alignment
Abadjoltfromhittingacurborpotholecancausethefrontendofyour
vehicletobecomemisalignedorcausedamagetoyourtires.Ifyour
vehicleseemstopulltoonesidewhenyou’redriving,thewheelsmaybe
outofalignment.HaveaqualifiedtechnicianataFordorLincoln
Mercurydealercheckthewheelalignmentperiodically.
Wheelmisalignmentinthefrontortherearcancauseunevenandrapid
treadwearofyourtiresandshouldbecorrectedbyaqualifiedtechnician
ataFordorLincolnMercurydealer.Frontwheeldrive(FWD)vehicles
andthosewithanindependentrearsuspension(ifequipped)may
requirealignmentofallfourwheels.
