NOTE: Whenparkingonahill,itisimportanttosetthe
parking brake before placing the gear selector in Park,
otherwise the load on the automatic transaxle locking
mechanismmaymakeitdifficulttomovetheselectorout
of Park.As an added precaution, turn the front wheels
towardthecurbonadownhillgradeandawayfromthe
curbonauphillgrade.
BRAKESYSTEM
Yourvehicleisequippedwithpowerassistedbrakesas
standardequipment.Intheeventpowerassistislostfor
any reason (for example, repeated brake applications
withtheengineoff),thebrakeswillstillfunction.How-
ever,theeffortrequiredtobrakethevehiclewillbemuch
greater than that required with the power system oper-
ating.
NOTE: You should always apply the parking brake
beforeleavingthevehicle.

orridingonthebrakepedalcanresultinabnormally
highbraketemperatures,excessiveliningwear,and

Never leave children alone in a vehicle. Leaving
childreninavehicleunattendedisdangerousfor
a number of reasons. A child or others could be
injured. Don’t leave the keys in the ignition. A
child could operate power windows, other con-
trols,ormovethevehicle.
Be sure the parking brake is fully disengaged
beforedriving.Failuretodosocanleadtobrake
failureandanaccident.
