ReplacementParts
ManycomponentsinyourFlexibleFuelVehicle(FFV)are
designedtobecompatiblewithethanol.Alwaysbesure
that your vehicle is serviced with correct ethanol com-
patibleparts.
WhetheroperatingthevehicleonanE-85ethanolfuelor
unleaded gasoline the engine oil requirements are the
same.Referto“EngineOilSelectioninthe“Maintenance
Procedures”sectionofthismanualfortheproperquality
andviscosityengineoil.
CAUTION!
NOTE:
Your engine oil filler cap also describes the
correctengineoiltouse.
Replacingfuelsystemcomponentswithnon-ethanol 5
compatiblecomponentscandamageyourvehicle.
Starting
ThecharacteristicsofE-85fuelmakeitunsuitableforuse
whenambienttemperaturesfallbelow0°F.Intherange
of 0° F to 32° F, you may experience an increase in the
timeittakesforyourenginetostart,andadeterioration
indrivability(sagsand/orhesitations)untiltheengineis
fullywarmedup.
Maintenance
IfyouoperatethevehicleusingE-85fuel,followSched-
uleBinthemaintenanceschedulesectionofthismanual.
CAUTION!
CruisingRange
Donotuseethanolmixturegreaterthan85%inyour
vehicle. It will cause difficulty in cold starting and
mayaffectdrivability.
Because E-85 fuel contains less energy per gallon than
gasoline, you will experience an increase in fuel con-
sumption. You can expect your mpg and your driving
range to decrease by about 30% compared to gasoline
operation.
