THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE STARTING YOUR VEHICLE
Key-In-Ignition Reminder
Openingthedriver’sdoorwhenthekeyisintheignition,
soundsasignaltoremindyoutoremovethekey.
CAUTION!
An unlocked vehicle is an invitation to thieves.
Alwaysremovethekeyfromtheignitionandlockall
doorswhenleavingthevehicleunattended.
NOTE: Withthedriver’sdooropen,andthekeyinthe
ignition,boththepowerdoorlocksandRemoteKeyless
Entry(RKE)willnotfunction.
ManualTransaxle—IfEquipped
Turn the ignition switch to theACC position, push the
key and cylinder inward, rotate the key to the LOCK
position,andremovethekey.
STEERING WHEEL LOCK — IF EQUIPPED
Your vehicle may be equipped with a passive steering
wheellock.Thislockpreventssteeringthevehiclewith-
out the ignition key. If the steering wheel is moved no
morethanone—halfturnineitherdirectionandthekey
isnotintheignitionswitch,thesteeringwheelwilllock.
Locking Doors with a Key
You can insert the key with either side up. To lock the
door,turnthekeyrearward.Tounlockthedoor,turnthe
key forward. For door lock lubrication, refer to “Body
Lubrication”inthe“MaintenanceProcedures”sectionof
thismanual.
To Manually Lock the Steering Wheel
To manually lock the steering wheel, with the engine
running, turn the steering wheel upside down, turn off
theengineandremovethekey.Turnthesteeringwheel
slightlyineitherdirectionuntilthelockengages.
