minutesafterafullywarmedengineisshutoff.Donot
checkoillevelbeforestartingtheengineafterithassat
overnight.Checkingengineoillevelwhentheengineis
coldwillgiveyouanincorrectreading.

servicesdeterminedbytheengineerswhodesignedyour
vehicle.
Besidesthemaintenanceitemsforwhichtherearefixed
maintenanceintervals,thereareotheritemsthatshould
operate satisfactorily without periodic maintenance.
However, if a malfunction of these items does occur, it
couldadverselyaffecttheengineorvehicleperformance.
These items should be inspected if a malfunction is
observedorsuspected.
Checkingtheoilwhilethevehicleisonlevelground,will
improvetheaccuracyoftheoillevelreadings.Maintain
theoillevelbetweentheMINandMAXmarkingsonthe
dipstick.Addingonequartofoilwhenthereadingisat
the MIN mark will result in a MAX reading on these
engines.
Engine Oil
CAUTION!
CheckingOilLevel
Overfillingthecrankcaseasindicatedbyanoillevel
above the “MAX” mark on the engine oil dipstick
willcauseoilaeration,whichcanleadtolossofoil
pressure and an increase in oil temperature. This
coulddamageyourengine.
Toassureproperenginelubrication,theengineoilmust
bemaintainedatthecorrectlevel.Checktheoillevelat
regularintervals,suchaseveryfuelstop.
