Ifyouexceedthesespeeds,youmaynoticetheenginecut
inandout.Thisiscausedbyanelectroniclimiterinthe
engine computer. The engine will run normally when
youreduceenginespeed.
AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE — IF EQUIPPED
WARNING!
ItisdangeroustomovetheshiftleveroutofPARKor
NEUTRAL if the engine speed is higher than idle
speed.Ifyourfootisnotfirmlyonthebrakepedal,
the vehicle could accelerate quickly forward or in
reverse.Youcouldlosecontrolofthevehicleandhit
someone or something. Only move the shift lever
into gear when the engine is idling normally and
whenyourrightfootisfirmlyonthebrakepedal.
Downshifting
Proper downshifting will improve fuel economy and
prolongenginelife.
CAUTION!

Ifyouskipagearwhiledownshiftingordownshift
attoohighofanenginespeed,youcoulddamagethe
engine,transmission,orclutch.
Youmuststeponthebrakepedalanddepresstheshift
leverknobbuttonbeforeyouwillbeabletoshiftoutof
PARK.
To maintain a safe speed and prolong brake life, shift
downto2ndor1stgearwhendescendingasteepgrade.
When turning a corner, or driving up a steep grade,
downshift early so that the engine will not be
overburdened.
