STARTING PROCEDURES
Manual Transaxle — If Equipped
Beforestartingyourvehicle,adjustyourseat,adjustboth
insideandoutsidemirrors,andfastenyourseatbelts.
Beforestartingtheenginefullyapplytheparkingbrake,
presstheclutchpedaltothefloorandplacetheshiftlever
intoNEUTRAL.

Never leave children alone in a vehicle. Leaving
unattendedchildreninavehicleisdangerousfora
number of reasons. A child or others could be
seriouslyorfatallyinjured.Donotleavethekeyin
the ignition. A child could operate power win-
dows,othercontrols,ormovethevehicle.
Besuretoturnofftheengineifyouwanttorestor
sleep in your car. Accidents can be caused by
inadvertently moving the shift lever or by press-
ingtheacceleratorpedal.Thismaycauseexcessive
heatintheexhaustsystem,resultinginoverheat-
ing and vehicle fire which may cause serious or
fatalinjuries.

Automatic Transaxle — If Equipped
The shift lever must be in the NEUTRAL or PARK
positionbeforeyoucanstarttheengine.Applythebrakes
anddepresstheshiftleverknobbuttonbeforeshiftingto
anydrivinggear.
NOTE: Youmustpressthebrakepedalbeforeshifting
outofPARK.
Normal Starting
Normalstartingofeitheracoldorawarmenginedoes
notrequirepumpingordepressingtheacceleratorpedal.
Simply turn the ignition switch to the START position
