GrossTrailerWeight(GTW)
WARNING!
TheGTWistheweightofthetrailerplustheweightofall
cargo, consumables and equipment (permanent or tem-
porary) loaded in or on the trailer in its Љloaded and
readyforoperationЉcondition.Therecommendedwayto
measure GTW is to put your fully loaded trailer on a
vehicle scale. The entire weight of the trailer must be
supportedbythescale.
Itisimportantthatyoudonotexceedthemaximum
frontorrearGAWR.Adangerousdrivingcondition
canresultifeitherratingisexceeded.Youcouldlose
controlofthevehicleandhaveanaccident.
TrailerTongueWeight(TW)
Thetrailertongueweightisthedownwardforceexerted
onthehitchballbythetrailer.Inmostcases,itshouldnot
belessthan10%ormorethan15%ofthetrailerload.You
mustconsiderthisaspartoftheloadonyourvehicle.
GrossCombinationWeightRating(GCWR)
TheGCWRisthetotalpermissibleweightofyourvehicle
and trailer when weighed in combination. (Note that
GCWR ratings include an 150 lbs (68 kg) allowance for
thepresenceofadriver).
FrontalArea
The frontal area is the maximum height and maximum
widthofthefrontofatrailer.
GrossAxleWeightRating(GAWR)
TheGAWRisthemaximumcapacityofthefrontandrear
axles. Distribute the load over the front and rear axles
evenly.Makesurethatyoudonotexceedeitherfrontor
rearGAWR.
TrailerSwayControl
Thetrailerswaycontrolisatelescopinglinkthatcanbe
installedbetweenthehitchreceiverandthetrailertongue
