DeterminingifthePersonalSafetySystemாisoperational
ThePersonalSafetySystemusesawarninglightintheinstrument
clusteroraback-uptonetoindicatetheconditionofthesystem.Refer
totheWarninglightsandchimessectionintheInstrumentCluster
chapter.RoutinemaintenanceofthePersonalSafetySystemisnot
required.
TheRestraintsControlModule(RCM)monitorsitsowninternalcircuits
andthecircuitsfortheairbagsupplementalrestraints,crashsensor(s),
safetybeltpretensioners,frontsafetybeltbucklesensors,front
passengersensingsystem,andthedriverseatpositionsensor.In
addition,theRCMalsomonitorstherestraintswarninglightinthe
instrumentcluster.Adifficultywiththesystemisindicatedbyoneor
moreofthefollowing:

Thewarninglightwilleitherflashorstaylit.
Thewarninglightwillnotilluminateimmediatelyaftertheignitionis
turnedon.

Aseriesoffivebeepswillbeheard.Thetonepatternwillrepeat
periodicallyuntiltheproblemandwarninglightarerepaired.
Ifanyofthesethingshappen,evenintermittently,contactyour
authorizeddealerassoonaspossible.Unlessserviced,thesystemmay
notfunctionproperlyintheeventofacollision.

WARNING:Alwaysdriveandridewithyourseatbackupright
andthelapbeltsnugandlowacrossthehips.
WARNING:Toreducetheriskofinjury,makesurechildrensit
inarearseatingpositionwheretheycanbeproperlyrestrained.
WARNING:Neverletapassengerholdachildonhisorherlap
whilethevehicleismoving.Thepassengercannotprotectthe
childfrominjuryinacollision.
WARNING:Alloccupantsofthevehicle,includingthedriver,
shouldalwaysproperlyweartheirsafetybelts,evenwhenan
airbagsupplementalrestraintsystem(SRS)isprovided.
