rotatethesteeringwheeluntilthe
keyturnsfreely.Thisconditionmay

Turnthekeyto4(start),then
releasethekeyassoonasthe
enginebeginscranking.Yourvehiclehasacomputerassistedcranking
systemthatassistsinstartingtheengine.Afterreleasingthekeyfrom
the4(start)position,theenginemaycontinuecrankingforupto
10
secondsoruntilthevehiclestarts.
Note:Crankingmaybestoppedatanytimebyturningthekeytotheoff
position.

Afteridlingforafewseconds,releasetheparkingbrake,applythe
brake,shiftintogearanddrive.
Note:Iftheenginedoesnotstartonthefirsttry,turnthekeytotheoff
position,wait10secondsandtryStep2again.Iftheenginestillfailsto
start,presstheacceleratortothefloorandtryStep2again,keepingthe
acceleratorontheflooruntiltheenginebeginstoaccelerateabove
crankingspeeds;thiswillallowtheenginetocrankwiththefuelshutoff
incasetheengineisfloodedwithfuel.
Guarding against exhaust fumes
Carbonmonoxideispresentinexhaustfumes.Takeprecautionstoavoid
itsdangerouseffects.
WARNING:Ifyousmellexhaustfumesinsideyourvehicle,have
yourdealerinspectyourvehicleimmediately.Donotdriveifyou
smellexhaustfumes.
Important ventilating information
Iftheengineisidlingwhilethevehicleisstoppedforalongperiodof
time,openthewindowsatleastoneinch(2.5cm)oradjusttheheating
orairconditioningtobringinfreshair.
