takingfueleconomymeasurementsduringthefirst1,000miles

km)ofdriving(enginebreak-inperiod).Youwillgetamore
accuratemeasurementafter2,000miles–3,000miles(3,000km–5,000
km).
Filling the tank
Theadvertisedfuelcapacityofthefueltankonyourvehicleisequalto
theratedrefillcapacityofthefueltankaslistedintheMaintenance
productspecificationsandcapacitiessectionofthischapter.
Theadvertisedcapacityistheamountoftheindicatedcapacityandthe
emptyreservecombined.Indicatedcapacityisthedifferenceinthe
amountoffuelinafulltankandatankwhenthefuelgaugeindicates
empty.Emptyreserveisthesmallamountoffuelremaininginthefuel
tankafterthefuelgaugeindicatesempty.
Theamountofusablefuelintheemptyreservevariesandshould
notbereliedupontoincreasedrivingrange.Whenrefuelingyour
vehicleafterthefuelgaugeindicatesempty,youmightnotbe
abletorefuelthefullamountoftheadvertisedcapacityofthe
fueltankduetotheemptyreservestillpresentinthetank.
