TheSafetyCanopy௡systemisdesignedtoactivatewhenthevehicle
sustainslateraldecelerationsufficienttocausethesidecrashsensorto
closeanelectricalcircuitthatinitiatesSafetyCanopy௡inflationorwhen
acertainlikelihoodofarollovereventisdetectedbytherolloversensor.
TheSafetyCanopy௡ismountedtotheroofside-railsheetmetal,behind
theheadliner,abovethefirstandsecondrowseats.Incertainlateral
collisionsorrolloverevents,theSafetyCanopy௡systemwillbeactivated,
regardlessofwhichseatsareoccupied.TheSafetyCanopy௡isdesigned
toinflatebetweenthesidewindowareaandoccupantstofurther
enhanceprotectionprovidedinsideimpactcollisionsandrolloverevents.
ThefactthattheSafetyCanopy௡systemdidnotactivateinacollision
doesnotmeanthatsomethingiswrongwiththesystem.Rather,it
meanstheforceswerenotofthetypesufficienttocauseactivation.The
SafetyCanopy௡isdesignedtoinflateincertainsideimpactcollisionsor
rolloverevents,notinrearimpact,frontalornear-frontalcollisions,
unlessthecollisioncausessufficientlateraldecelerationorrollover
likelihood.
WARNING:SeveralSafetyCanopy௡systemcomponentsgethot
afterinflation.Donottouchthemafterinflation.
WARNING:IftheSafety
Canopy௡systemhas
deployed,theSafetyCanopy௡
willnotfunctionagain.The
SafetyCanopy௡system
(includingtheA,BandC
pillartrim)mustbeinspected
andservicedbyanauthorized
dealer.IftheSafetyCanopy௡is
notreplaced,theunrepairedarea
willincreasetheriskofinjuryina
collision.
