Seating and Safety Restraints
Ifthechildistheproperheight,age,andweight(asspecifiedbyyour
childsafetyseatorboostermanufacturer),fitstherestraintandcanbe
restrainedproperly,thenrestrainthechildinthechildsafetyseator
withthebelt-positioningbooster.Rememberthatchildseatsand
belt-positioningboostersvaryandmaybedesignedtofitchildrenof
differentheights,agesandweights.Childrenwhoaretoolargeforchild
safetyseatsorbelt-positioningboosters(asspecifiedbyyourchildsafety
seatmanufacturer)shouldalwaysproperlywearsafetybelts.

Useasafetyseatthatisrecommendedforthesizeandweightofthe
child.
Wheninstallingachildsafetyseat:

Reviewandfollowtheinformation

supplementalrestraintsystem
(SRS)sectioninthischapter.

Carefullyfollowallofthe
manufacturer’sinstructions
includedwiththesafetyseatyou
putinyourvehicle.Ifyoudonot
installandusethesafetyseat
properly,thechildmaybeinjured
inasuddenstoporcollision.
Airbagscankillorinjureachildinachildseat.NEVERplacea
rear-facingchildseatinfrontofanactiveairbag.Ifyoumustusea
forward-facingchildseatinthefrontseat,movethevehicleseatallthe
wayback.
Children12andundershouldbeproperlyrestrainedinarearseating
positionwheneverpossible.Ifallchildrencannotbeseatedand
restrainedproperlyinarearseatingposition,properlyrestrainthe
largestchildinthefrontseat.
