Checktheoillevelweekly,orwheneveryoufillupwithfuel.Ideally
theoillevelshouldbecheckedwiththeenginecoldandthevehicle
restingonlevelground.Iftheengineisalreadywarm,thenwaitfor
atleasttwominutesafterswitchingoffbeforecheckingthelevel.

Checktheoillevelwhenyoufill
upwithfuel(refuelfirst,then
checktheoil-thisallowstime
fortheoiltodrainintothe
sumpbeforeyoucheckthe
level).

Withdrawthedipstickandwipethebladeclean.
Reinsertthedipstickandwithdrawagaintocheckthelevel.
Iftheoillevelisneartothelowermarkonthedipstick,unscrew
thefillercapandaddoiltomaintainthelevelbetweentheupper
andlowermarksonthedipstick.

Takecaretoavoidspilling
engineoilontoahotengine-a
firemayresult!
NOTE:Ondieselmodels,itisnecessarytoopentheaccessflap-lift
thereleasetab(arrowed)andopen.Wipetheareaaroundthe
accessflapcleanbeforeremoving,andremembertorefittheflap
whentopping-upiscomplete.
DONOTfillabovetheupper
mark!
Checktheengineoilmore
frequentlyifthevehicleis
drivenathighspeedsfor
prolongedperiods.

Waitforafewminutesandthenrecheckthelevel,addingmore
oilifnecessary.
Finally,ensurethefillercapisreplacedandfullytightened.On
dieselmodels,refittheaccessflap.
