HDCfade-outgraduallydecreasestheHDCbrakeinterventionwith
theeffectthattherateofhilldescentwillincrease.Ifthisoccurs
eitheroneofthetwoHDCwarninglightswillflashfortheperiod
thatHDCtakestofade.HDCwillbedisabledcompletelyoncethe
descentiscomplete.
Ifrequired(eg.theangleofthedescentlevelsoutsignificantly),
fade-outmaybeachieveddeliberatelybydeselectingHDCwhilethe
systemisoperatingorbychangingoutoftheappropriateoperating
gear,inwhichcasethegreeninformationlightwillflash.Fade-out
willalsooccuriftheclutchisdepressedforlongerthan60
seconds,inwhichcasetheamberfailurelightwillflash.
IfafaultwiththeHDCsystemisdetected,orifthebrakingsystem
reachesapre-settemperatureduetoextremeconditions,HDCwill
automaticallyfadeout(amberfailurelightflashes).

TheHDCsystemincorporatestwowarninglights:
HDCinformationlight-GREEN:
Thelightilluminatesbrieflyasabulbcheckwhenthe
starterswitchisturnedtoposition’II’.IfHDCis
selectedwheneitheroftheoperatinggearsisengaged(1stor
reverse),thelightwillilluminatecontinuously.WhenHDCis
selectedandanon-operatinggearisengaged,thelightwillflashto
informthedriverthatHDCisselected,butnotoperating.Thelight
willalsoflashtoindicatethatHDCisfadingout(seeabove).
HDC’failure’light-AMBER:
Thelightilluminatesbrieflyasabulbcheckwhenthe
starterswitchisturnedtoposition’II’.Thelightwill
startflashingifthebrakesbecomeindangerofoverheatingand
continueflashinguntilthebrakeshavecooledsufficientlyforHDC
tooperateagain.
Ifthelightilluminatesatanyothertime,afaultinthesystemis
indicated.Ifthisoccurs,deselectHDCandconsultyourLandRover
dealer.
