youMUSTreturnthestarterswitchtoposition’0’,thenturnthe
starterswitchtoposition’II’andwaituntiltheglowplug
warninglightgoesoutbeforeattemptingtorestart;theengine
willnotstartbyturningthestarterswitchfromposition’II’.

abovefastidlespeed,untilthe
oilpressurewarninglight
extinguishes.Thiswillensure
thattheengineand
turbochargerbearingsare
properlylubricatedbefore
beingrunatnormaldriving
speeds.
Intemperateclimates,DONOToperatethestarterforlongerthan
10
seconds;iftheenginefailstostart,switchoffandwaitfor10
secondsbeforere-usingthestarter.
Catalyticconverterscanbe
damagedifthewrongfuelis
used,orifanenginemisfire
occurs.Beforestartingthe
engine,youshouldbeawareof
theprecautionsdetailedunder
’Catalyticconverter’.

Intemperaturesof-10°Candbelow,partiallydepressthe
acceleratorpedalandfullydepresstheclutchpedalwhilestarting.
Keepthepedalsinthispositionuntiltheengineisrunning.Note
thatenginecrankingtimeswillincrease-butmustnotexceed15
seconds-andthatthebatterychargingandoilpressurewarning
lightsmaytakeseveralsecondstoextinguish.
Continueduseofthestarterwill
notonlydischargethebattery,
butmaydamagethestarter
motorandthecatalytic
converter.
Warmingup
Intheinterestsoffueleconomy,itisadvisabletodrivesoonafter
starting,rememberingthatharshacceleration,orlabouringthe
enginebeforenormaloperatingtemperaturehasbeenreached,can
damagetheengine.
OperatingTip..........
Infreezingconditions,orwhen
thebatteryisinalowstateof
charge,depresstheclutch
whileoperatingthestarter;this
willreducetheloadonthe
battery.
Switchingoff
Toavoidthepossibilityofdamagingtheturbochargerbearings
throughinadequatelubrication,ALWAYSallowtheenginetoidlefor
10
secondsbeforeswitchingoff.
