Duringadescent,ifenginebrakingisinsufficienttocontrolthe
vehiclespeed,HDC(ifselected)automaticallyoperatesthebrakes
toslowthevehicleandmaintainaspeedrelativetotheaccelerator
pedalposition.

KeepHDCselectedwhile
off-roaddriving,thesystemwill
onlyoperatewhenneeded.
Whendrivingoff-road,HDCcanbepermanentlyselected,toensure
thatcontrolismaintainedwhenever1storreversegearsare
engaged.ABSandtractioncontrolarestillfullyoperationalandwill
assistiftheneedarises.

Donotdepresstheclutchpedal
whendescendingasteepslope
-
controlofthevehiclewillbe
compromisedandHDCwillno
longerfunction.
NOTE:WithHDCselected,gearchangescanbecarriedoutinthe
normalway.
IfthebrakepedalisdepressedwhenHDCisactive,HDCis
overriddenandthebrakeswillperformasnormal(apulsationmight
befeltthroughthebrakepedal).Ifthebrakepedalisthenreleased,
HDC,ifnecessary,willrecommenceoperating.
Iftheclutchisdepressedforlongerthan3secondswhileHDCis
operating,theHDCinformationlightwillflash.If,after60seconds
theclutchisstilldepressed,theinformationlightextinguishesand
theHDC’failure’warninglightflashesasthesystemgraduallyfades
out(see’HDCfade-out’).
Inextremecircumstances,theHDCsystemmaycausebrake
temperaturestoexceedtheirpre-setlimits.Ifthisoccurs,the
informationwarninglightwillextinguishandtheHDC’failure’
warninglight(AMBER)willstarttoflash.Youshouldstopthe
vehicleanddisengageHDC.IfHDCremainsoperatingandthebrake
temperaturecontinuestorisetheHDCsystemwillgraduallyfade
out(see’HDCfade-out’)andthe’failure’warninglightwillcontinue
toflashuntilthebrakeshavecooled.
