Caringforseatbelts
WARNING!
Regularlyinspectthewebbingforsignsoffraying,cutsandwear,
alsopayparticularattentiontotheconditionofthefixingpointsand
adjusters.
Alwaysreplaceaseatbelt
assemblythathas
withstoodthestrainofa
severevehicleimpact,or
onewherethewebbing
showssignsoffraying.
Avoidcontaminatingthewebbingwithpolish,oilandchemicals
(see’Cleaning&vehiclecare’).

Withtheseatbeltfastened,givethewebbingnearthebucklea
quickupwardpull-thebuckleshouldremainsecurelylocked.
Withtheseatbeltunfastened,unreelthewebbingtothelimitof
itstravel.Checkthatunreelingisfreefromsnatchesandsnags.
Withthewebbinghalfunreeled,holdthetongueplateandgive
itaquickforwardpull-themechanismmustlockautomatically
andpreventanyfurtherunreeling.
Ifaseatbeltshouldfailanyofthesetests,contactyourdealer
immediately.
SEATBELTPRE-TENSIONERS
IMPORTANT
Theseatbeltpre-tensionersactivateinconjunctionwiththeairbag
SRSandprovideadditionalprotectionintheeventofasevere
frontalimpactonthevehicle(see’AirbagSRS’).Thepre-tensioners
automaticallyretracttheseatbeltsfittedtothefrontseats.This
reducesanyslackinboththelapanddiagonalportionsofthebelts,
therebyreducingforwardmovementofthebeltwearerintheevent
ofaseverefrontalcollision.
Theseatbeltpre-tensioners
willonlybeactivatedonce
andthenMUSTBEREPLACED
byaLandRoverdealer.
Failuretoreplacethe
pre-tensionerswillreducethe
efficiencyofthevehicle’s
frontrestraintsystems.
TheairbagSRSwarninglightontheinstrumentpanel,describedon
thefollowingpage,willalertyoutoanymalfunctionoftheseatbelt
pre-tensioners.
Ifthepre-tensionershavebeenactivated,theseatbeltswillstill
functionasrestraints,andmustbewornintheeventthatthe
vehicleremainsinadriveablecondition.

Afteranyfrontalimpact,always
havetheseatbeltsand
pre-tensionerscheckedand,if
necessary,replacedbyaLand
Roverdealer.
NOTE:Theseatbeltpre-tensionerswillNOTbeactivatedbyrear,
sideorminorfrontalimpacts.
Intheinterestsofsafety,itis
recommendedthatremovalor
replacementofthefrontseats
andseatbeltsshouldonlybe
carriedoutbyaLandRover
dealer.
