Connectingtrailerbrakestoyourvehicle’ shydraulic
brake lines can overload your brake system and
causeittofail.Youmightnothavebrakeswhenyou
needthemandcouldhaveanaccident.
Themaximumfrontalareaofthetrailercannotexceed
20
squarefeet(1.86squaremeters).

Ifusingamanualtransaxlevehiclefortrailertowing,
all starts must be in FIRST gear to avoid excessive
clutchslippage.
• Dosparenottire.attempttotowatrailerwhileusingacompact
Thetrailertongueloadmustbeconsideredaspartof
the combined weight of occupants and cargo, and
shouldneverexceedtheweightreferencedontheTire
and Loading Information placard. Refer to the Tire–
SafetyInformationSectioninthismanual.

The automatic transaxle fluid and filter should be
changed if you REGULARLY tow a trailer for more
than45minutesofcontinuousoperation.SeeSchedule
“B” in section 8 of this manual for transaxle fluid
changeintervals.

The“D”rangecanbeselectedwhentowing.However,
iffrequentshiftingoccurswhileinthisrange,the“3”
rangemustbeselected.
NOTE: Usingthe“3”rangewhileoperatingthevehicle
under heavy operating conditions will improve perfor-
mance and extend tranaxle life by reducing excessive
shiftingandheatbuildup.
NOTE: Checktheautomatictransaxlefluidlevelbefore
towing. Fluid discoloration, or a burnt odor, shows the
needforatransmissionfluidandfilterchange.
