Compass Variance is the difference betw een magnetic
north and geograp hic north. In som e areas of the country,
the difference betw een magnetic and geograp hic north is
great enou gh to cause the compass to give false read ings.
If this occurs, the compass variance must be set accord ing
to the Com pass Variance Map .
To set the variance: Turn the ignition ON and set the
display to “Com pass/ Temperatu re.” Press and hold the
RESET button five second s (no more than 10 second s).
The last variance zone nu mber will be displayed . Press
the STEP button to select the new variance zone and
press the RESET button to resu me norm al operation.
