DieselFuel-WaterSeparator
Shou ld you r vehicle run out of fuel, the fuel system must
be re-p rim ed in ord er to start the engine. Factors such as
tem peratu re, which affects the viscosity of the fuel, how
long the vehicle has been sitting and other factors will
influ ence how quickly the engine starts.
A diesel fuel-water separator separates the water nor-
mally found in diesel fuel. A manu al hand prim e pump is
located on the filter head for re-p rim ing the fuel system .
The fuel-water separator is located on the driver side
cowl in the engine compartm ent. Refer to “2.8L Turbo
Diesel Engine Com partm ent” in Section 7 for location.
Re-PrimingtheDieselFuelSystem
The follow ing proced ure must be follow ed after com-
pletely running out of fuel.
1. Add a minim um of 2 gallons (7.57L) of diesel fuel to 5

water has collected in the fuel filter and shou ld be
