WARNING!
If the vehicle diagnostic system determ ines that the fuel
filler cap is loose, improp erly installed , or damaged , a
“CH ECK GAS CAP” message will be displayed in the
EVIC (Electronic Vehicle Inform ation Center). Refer to
“Overhead Console” in Section 3 of this manu al. Tighten
the fuel filler cap prop erly and press the odometer reset
button to turn the message off. If the problem continu es,
the message will appear the next time the vehicle is
started . Refer to “Onboard Diagnostic System — OBDII”
in Section 7 of this manu al for more inform ation.
• Neveraddfuelwhentheengineisrunning.
Never have any smoking materials lit in or near
the vehicle when the fuel cap is removed or the
tankfilled.

hicles used for trailer tow ing.
Damage to the fuel system or emission control
system could result from using an improper fuel
tankfillercap(gascap).Apoorlyfittingcapcouldlet
impuritiesintothefuelsystem.
