deployment,itisnormaltonoticea
smoke-like,powderyresidueor
smelltheburntpropellant.Thismay
consistofcornstarch,talcum
powderorsodiumcompoundswhich
mayirritatetheskinandeyes,but
noneoftheresidueistoxic.
WhiletheSRSisdesignedtohelp
reduceseriousinjuries,contactwith
adeployingairbagmayalsocause
abrasions,swellingortemporary
hearingloss.Becauseairbagsmust
inflaterapidlyandwithconsiderable
force,thereistheriskofdeathor
seriousinjuriessuchasfractures,facialandeyeinjuriesorinternal
injuries,particularlytooccupantswhoarenotproperlyrestrainedorare
otherwiseoutofpositionatthetimeofairbagdeployment.Itis
extremelyimportantthatoccupantsbeproperlyrestrainedasfaraway
fromtheairbagmoduleaspossiblewhilemaintainingvehiclecontrol.
WARNING:Severalairbagsystemcomponentsgethotafter
inflation.Donottouchthemafterinflationoryoumaybe
burned.
WARNING:Iftheairbagandseatbeltpretensionershave
deployed,theairbagorseatbeltpretensionerswillnotfunction
againandmustbereplacedimmediately.Iftheairbagorseatbelt
pretensionersarenotreplaced,theunrepairedareawillincreasethe
riskofinjuryinacollision.
