Maintenance and Specifications
Addthepropermixtureofcoolantandwatertothecoolingsystemby
followingthesesteps:

Beforeyoubegin,turntheengineoffandletitcool.
Whentheengineiscool,wrapathickclotharoundthecoolant
pressurereliefcaponthecoolantreservoir(anopaqueplastic
bottle).Slowlyturncapcounterclockwise(left)untilpressurebegins
torelease.

Stepbackwhilethepressurereleases.
Whenyouaresurethatallthepressurehasbeenreleased,usethe
clothtoturnitcounterclockwiseandremovethecap.

Openthecoolantbleedvalveonthebackoftheenginewateroutlet.
(SeeIdentifyingcomponentsintheenginecompartmentearlierin
thissectionforthelocationofthebleedvalve).Ifthebleedvalve
leakscoolantwhenopened,thereisnoairintheengine.Ifthebleed
valvedoesnotleakcoolantwhenopened,leaveitopenandcontinue
tothenextsteps.

Fillthecoolantreservoirslowlywiththepropercoolantmixture.
Closethebleedvalvewhencoolantbeginstoseepfromit.
Continuefillingtowithinthe“COLDFILLRANGE”orthe“FULL
COLD”levelonthereservoir.Reinstallthecaponthecoolant
reservoir.Turnthecapuntilitistightlyinstalledtopreventcoolant
loss.
Afteranycoolanthasbeenadded,checkthecoolantconcentration.
RefertotheCheckingenginecoolantsection.Iftheconcentrationis
not50/50(protectionto–34°F[–36°C]),drainsomecoolantandadjust
theconcentration.Itmaytakeseveraldrainsandadditionstoobtaina
50/50
coolantconcentration.
Whenevercoolanthasbeenadded,thecoolantlevelinthecoolant
reservoirshouldbecheckedthenextfewtimesyoudrivethevehicle.If
necessary,addenough50/50concentrationofenginecoolantand
distilledwatertobringtheliquidleveltotheproperlevel.
Ifyouhavetoaddmorethan1.0quart(1.0liter)ofenginecoolantper
month,haveyourauthorizeddealerchecktheenginecoolingsystem.
Yourcoolingsystemmayhavealeak.Operatinganenginewithalow
levelofcoolantcanresultinengineoverheatingandpossibleengine
damage).
