Exceedingtheselimitsmayallowwatertoentercriticalvehicle
components,adverselyaffectingdriveability,emissions,reliability
andcausinginternaltransmissiondamage.
Replacetherearaxlelubricantanytimetheaxlehasbeen
submergedinwater.Rearaxlelubricantquantitiesarenottobe
checkedorchangedunlessaleakissuspectedorrepairrequired.
Disconnectthewiringtothetrailerbeforebackingthetrailerintothe
water.Reconnectthewiringtothetrailerafterthetrailerisremoved
fromthewater.Waterenteringtheseareas,whileconnected,could
short-circuitthesystem.
RECREATIONAL TOWING
Followtheseguidelinesforyourspecificpowertraincombinationtotow
yourvehicleforpersonaltravel(suchasbehindamotorhomeora
truck).
Incaseofroadsideemergencywithadisabledvehicle,pleasereferto
WreckertowingintheRoadsideEmergencieschapter.
Theseguidelinesaredesignedtopreventdamagetoyourvehicle.
FrontWheelDrive(FWD)vehicles:
TowyourFrontWheelDrivevehiclewithallfourwheelsontheground
orwiththefrontwheelsoffthegroundbyusingatowdolly.Ifyouare
usingatowdollyfollowtheinstructionsspecifiedbytheequipment
provider.

and65mph(105km/h)forautomatictransmissionvehicles.
Starttheengineandallowittorunforfiveminutesatthebeginning
ofeachdayandateachfuelstop.
