WARNING LIGHTS AND CHIMES
Warninglightsandgaugescanalertyoutoavehicleconditionthatmay
becomeseriousenoughtocauseextensiverepairs.Awarninglightmay
illuminatewhenaproblemexistswithoneofyourvehicle’sfunctions.
Manylightswillilluminatewhenyoustartyourvehicletomakesurethe
bulbswork.Ifanylightremainsonafterstartingthevehicle,refertothe
respectivesystemwarninglightforadditionalinformation.

illuminateswhentheignitionisfirst
turnedtotheonpositiontocheck
thebulbandtoindicatewhetherthevehicleisreadyfor
Inspection/Maintenance(I/M)testing.Normally,theЉServiceenginesoonЉ
lightwillstayonuntiltheengineiscranked,thenturnitselfoffifno
malfunctionsarepresent.However,ifafter15secondstheЉService
enginesoonЉlightblinkseighttimes,itmeansthatthevehicleisnot
readyforI/Mtesting.SeetheReadinessforInspection/Maintenance
(I/M)testingintheMaintenanceandSpecificationschapter.
SolidilluminationaftertheengineisstartedindicatestheOnBoard
DiagnosticsSystem(OBD-II)hasdetectedamalfunction.RefertoOn
boarddiagnostics(OBD-II)intheMaintenanceandSpecifications
chapter.Ifthelightisblinking,enginemisfireisoccurringwhichcould
damageyourcatalyticconverter.Driveinamoderatefashion(avoid
heavyaccelerationanddeceleration)andhaveyourvehicleserviced
immediatelybyyourauthorizeddealer.
Ifthe
lightremainson,haveyourvehicleservicedatthefirst
availableopportunity.
