Driving
IfyoucannotmovethegearshiftleveroutofP(Park)withignitionin
theonpositionandthebrakepedaldepressed,itispossiblethatafuse
hasblownorthevehicle’sbrakelampsarenotoperatingproperly.Refer
toFusesandrelaysintheRoadsideEmergencieschapter.
Ifthefuseisnotblown,performthefollowingprocedure:
1.
Applytheparkingbrake,turntheignitiontooff,thenremovethe
key.
2.
Usingascrewdriverorsimilar
tool,carefullypryoutthesmall
BrakeTransmissionShift
Interlock(BTSI)covercap
locatedtotherightofthe
gearshiftlever.
3.
Insertascrewdriverorsimilar
toolstraightdownintothe
accessholeandpressdownward
whilepullingthegearshiftlever
outoftheP(Park)positionand
intotheN(Neutral)position.

RemovetoolandreinstalltheBTSIcovercap.
Startthevehicleandreleasetheparkingbrake.
WARNING:Donotdriveyourvehicleuntilyouverifythatthe
brakelampsareworking.
WARNING:Alwayssettheparkingbrakefullyandmakesure
thegearshiftislatchedinP(Park).Turntheignitiontotheoff
positionandremovethekeywheneveryouleaveyourvehicle.
WARNING:Iftheparkingbrakeisfullyreleased,butthebrake
warninglampremainsilluminated,thebrakesmaynotbe
workingproperly.Driveslowlyandcarefullytoyourauthorizeddealer.
