Theside-curtainairbagsaremountedtoroofside-railsheetmetal,
behindtheheadliner,abovethefirstandsecondrowseats.Incertain
lateralcollisionsorrolloverevents,theside-curtainairbagswillbe
activated,regardlessofwhichseatsareoccupied.Incertainrollover
events,theside-curtainairbag(ifequipped)onbothsidesofthevehicle
willbeinflated,regardlessofwhichseatsareoccupied.Theside-curtain
airbags(ifequipped)aredesignedtoinflatebetweenthesidewindow
areaandoccupantstofurtherenhanceprotectionprovidedinside
impactcollisionsandrolloverevents.
Thefactthattheside-curtainairbags(ifequipped)didnotactivateina
collisiondoesnotmeanthatthereisamalfunctionwiththesystem.
Rather,itmeanstheforceswerenotofthetypesufficienttocause
activation.Theside-curtainairbags(ifequipped)aredesignedtoinflate
incertainsideimpactcollisionsorrolloverevents,notinrearimpact,
frontalornear-frontalcollisions,unlessthecollisioncausessufficient
lateraldecelerationorrolloverlikelihood.
WARNING:Several
side-curtainairbag(if
equipped)componentsgethot
afterinflation.Donottouchthem
afterinflation.
WARNING:Iftheside-curtainairbags(ifequipped)have
deployed,theside-curtainairbagswillnotfunctionagainunless
replaced.Theside-curtainairbags(includingtheA,BandCpillar
trim)mustbeinspectedandservicedbyaauthorizeddealerin
accordancewiththevehicleworkshopmanual.Iftheside-curtain
airbagsarenotreplaced,theunrepairedareawillincreasetheriskof
injuryinacollision.
