Emergencymaneuvers

Inanunavoidableemergencysituationwhereasuddensharpturn
mustbemade,remembertoavoid“over-driving”yourvehicle,i.e.,
turnthesteeringwheelonlyasrapidlyandasfarasrequiredtoavoid
theemergency.Excessivesteeringwillresultinlessvehiclecontrol,
notmore.Additionally,smoothvariationsoftheacceleratorand/or
brakepedalpressureshouldbeutilizedifchangesinvehiclespeedare
calledfor.Avoidabruptsteering,accelerationorbrakingwhichcould
resultinanincreasedriskoflossofvehiclecontrol,vehiclerollover
and/orpersonalinjury.Useallavailableroadsurfacetoreturnthe
vehicletoasafedirectionoftravel.

Intheeventofanemergencystop,avoidskiddingthetiresanddonot
attemptanysharpsteeringwheelmovements.
WARNING:Vehicleswithahighercenterofgravitysuchas
utilityandfour-wheeldrivevehicleshandledifferentlythan
vehicleswithalowercenterofgravity.Utilityandfour-wheeldrive
vehiclesarenotdesignedforcorneringatspeedsashighaspassenger
carsanymorethanlow-slungsportscarsaredesignedtoperform
satisfactorilyunderoff-roadconditions.Avoidsharpturns,excessive
speedandabruptmaneuversinthesevehicles.Failuretodrive
cautiouslycouldresultinanincreasedriskoflossofvehiclecontrol,
vehiclerollover,personalinjuryanddeath.
