Tires, Wheels and Loading
Whenweathertemperaturechangesoccur,tireinflationpressuresalso
change.A10°F(6°C)temperaturedropcancauseacorrespondingdrop
of1psi(7kPa)ininflationpressure.Checkyourtirepressures
frequentlyandadjustthemtotheproperpressurewhichcanbefound
ontheSafetyComplianceCertificationLabelorTireLabel.
Tocheckthepressureinyourtire(s):

Makesurethetiresarecool,meaningtheyarenothotfromdriving
evenamile.
Ifyouarecheckingtirepressurewhenthetireishot,(i.e.drivenmore
than1mile[1.6km]),never“bleed”orreduceairpressure.Thetiresare
hotfromdrivinganditisnormalforpressurestoincreaseabove
recommendedcoldpressures.Ahottireatorbelowrecommendedcold
inflationpressurecouldbesignificantlyunder-inflated.
Note:Ifyouhavetodriveadistancetogetairforyourtire(s),check
andrecordthetirepressurefirstandaddtheappropriateairpressure
whenyougettothepump.Itisnormalfortirestoheatupandtheair
pressureinsidetogoupasyoudrive.

Removethecapfromthevalveononetire,thenfirmlypressthetire
gaugeontothevalveandmeasurethepressure.

Addenoughairtoreachtherecommendedairpressure.
Note:Ifyouoverfillthetire,releaseairbypushingonthemetalstemin
thecenterofthevalve.Thenrecheckthepressurewithyourtiregauge.

Replacethevalvecap.
Repeatthisprocedureforeachtire,includingthespare.
Note:Somesparetiresoperateatahigherinflationpressurethanthe
othertires.ForT-type/mini-sparetires(seetheDissimilarspare
tire/wheelinformationsectionfordescription):Storeandmaintainat
60
psi(4.15bar).ForFullSizeandDissimilarsparetires(seethe
Dissimilarsparetire/wheelinformationsectionfordescription):Store
andmaintainatthehigherofthefrontandrearinflationpressureas
shownontheTireLabel.

Visuallyinspectthetirestomakesuretherearenonailsorother
objectsembeddedthatcouldpokeaholeinthetireandcauseanair
leak.
7.
Checkthesidewallstomakesuretherearenogouges,cutsor
bulges.
