Notice: Usingatooltoforcethe
keyfromitscylindercouldcause
damageorbreakthekey.Usethe
correctkeyandturnthekeyonly
withyourhand.Makesurethe
keyisallthewayin.Ifitisand
youhaveamanualtransmission
vehicle, turnthesteering wheel
leftandrightwhileyouturnthe
keyhard.Ifnoneofthisworks,
thenthevehicleneedsservice.
C(ON/RUN): Thisposition isfor
driving. Itistheposition theignition
switchreturnstoaftertheengine
starts,andthekeyisreleased.
Toshiftthetransmission outof
P(Park),theignition keyhastobe
inACC/ACCESSORYorON/RUN.
Thebattery couldbedrainedifthe
keyisleftintheACC/ACCESSORY
orON/RUNposition withtheengine
off.Thevehiclemightnotstartifthe
batteryisallowedtodrainforan
extended periodoftime.
A(LOCK/OFF): Thisistheonly
position inwhichthekeycanbe
inserted orremoved.Thisposition
lockstheignition andshifteron
automatic transmission vehicles,
andtheignition andsteeringwheel
onmanualtransmission vehicles.
D(START): Thisposition startsthe
engine.Whentheenginestarts,
releasethekey.Theignition switch
returnstoON/RUNfordriving.
Thekeycanbeturnedtofour
different positions.
ToshiftoutofP(Park),theignition
mustbeintheON/RUNorACC/
ACCESSORYandthebrakepedal
mustbeapplied.
B(ACC/ACCESSORY): This
Awarningtonewillsoundwhenthe
driverdoorisopened,theignition is
inACC/ACCESSORYorLOCK/OFF
andthekeyisintheignition.
