Whentowingathighaltitude on
steepuphillgrades,consider the
following: Enginecoolantwillboilat
alowertemperature thanatnormal
altitudes. Iftheengineisturnedoff
immediately aftertowingathigh
altitude onsteepuphillgrades,the
vehiclemayshowsignssimilarto
engineoverheating. Toavoidthis,
lettheenginerunwhileparked,
preferably onlevelground,withthe
automatic transmission inP(Park)
forafewminutesbeforeturningthe
engineoff.Forvehicles withmanual
transmissions, lettheenginerun
whileparked,preferably onlevel
ground,withthetransmission outof
gearandtheparkingbrakeapplied,
forafewminutesbeforeturningthe
engineoff.Iftheoverheatwarning
comeson,seeEngineOverheating
on page 9‑23.

Parkingthevehicleonahillwith

Peoplecanbeinjured, andboth
