coolantlevelshouldbeatorabove
theFROID/FULL COLDlineonthe
sideofthecoolantsurgetank.Ifthe
engineiscold,thecoolantlevel
shouldbeneartheFROID/FULL
COLDlineonthesideofthecoolant
surgetank.Ifitisnot,therecould
bealeakinthecoolingsystem.

Ifcoolantisneeded,addtheproper
DEX-COOL®coolantmixtureatthe
coolantsurgetank.
Anelectric enginecoolingfan
underthehoodcanstartupeven
whentheengineisnotrunning
andcancauseinjury.Keep
hands,clothing, andtoolsaway
fromanyunderhood electric fan.
Ifnocoolantisvisibleinthesurge
tank,addcoolantasfollows:
1. Removethecoolantsurgetank
pressure capwhenthecooling
system,including thecoolant
surgetankpressurecapand
upperradiatorhose,isnolonger
hot.Turnthepressurecap
HowtoAddCoolanttothe
SurgeTank
{WARNING
slowlycounterclockwise about
one-quarter turnandthenstop.
{WARNING
Steamandscalding liquidsfroma
hotcoolingsystemcanblowout
andburnyoubadly.Theyare
underpressure, andifyouturn
thesurgetankpressure
cap—evenalittle—theycan
comeoutathighspeed.Never
turnthecapwhenthecooling
system,including thesurgetank
pressurecap,ishot.Waitforthe
coolingsystemandsurgetank
pressurecaptocoolifyouever
havetoturnthepressure cap.
Ifyouhearahiss,waitforthatto
stop.Ahissmeansthereisstill
somepressureleft.
Youcanbeburnedifyouspill
coolantonhotengineparts.
Coolantcontainsethylene glycol
anditwillburniftheengineparts
arehotenough.Donotspill
coolantonahotengine.
Notice: Thisvehiclehasa
specific coolantfillprocedure.
Failuretofollowthisprocedure
couldcausetheengineto
overheatandbeseverely
damaged.
