Wheninstalling achildrestraint with
atoptether,youmustalsouse
eithertheloweranchorsorthe
safetybeltstoproperly securethe
childrestraint. Achildrestraint must
neverbeinstalled usingonlythetop
tetherandanchor.
LowerAnchors
TheLATCHsystemholdsachild
restraint duringdrivingorinacrash.
Thissystemisdesignedtomake
installation ofachildrestraint easier.
TheLATCHsystemusesanchorsin
thevehicleandattachments onthe
childrestraint thataremadeforuse
withtheLATCHsystem.
InordertousetheLATCHsystem
inyourvehicle, youneedachild
restraint thathasLATCH
attachments. Thechildrestraint
manufacturer willprovideyouwith
instructions onhowtousethe
childrestraint anditsattachments.
Thefollowing explains howto
attachachildrestraint withthese
attachments inyourvehicle.
Loweranchors(A)aremetalbars
builtintothevehicle. Thereare
twoloweranchorsforeach
LATCHseatingposition thatwill
accommodate achildrestraint with
lowerattachments (B).
MakesurethataLATCH-compatible
childrestraint isproperly installed
usingtheanchors, orusethe
vehicle's safetybeltstosecurethe
restraint, following theinstructions
thatcamewiththatrestraint, and
alsotheinstructions inthismanual.
Notallvehicleseatingpositions or
childrestraints haveloweranchors
andattachments ortoptether
anchorsandattachments.
