Electrical Disturbances
NOTE: For vehicles not equ ipped with the Electronic
Vehicle Inform ation Center (EVIC), the rad io, steering
wheel rad io controls (if equ ipped), and 6 disc CD/ DVD
changer (if equ ipped) will rem ain active for 10 minu tes
after the ignition switch is turned off. Opening either
front door will cancel this featu re.
Radio waves may pick up electrical distu rbances during
transm ission. They mainly affect the wave amplitude,
and thu s rem ain a part of the AM recep tion. They
interfere very little with the frequ ency variations that
carry the FM signal.
AM Reception
NOTE: For vehicles equ ipped with the Electronic Ve- 4
hicle Inform ation Center (EVIC), the rad io, steering
wheel rad io controls (if equ ipped), and 6 disc CD/ DVD
changer (if equ ipped) will rem ain active for up to 60
minu tes after the ignition switch is turned off. Opening
either front door will cancel this featu re. The time is
program mable. For details, refer to “Delay Pow er Off to
Accessories Until Exit,” und er “Personal Settings (Cus-
tom er Program mable Featu res),” und er “Electronic Ve-
hicle Inform ation Center (EVIC)” in Section 4 of this
manu al.
AM sou nd is based on wave amplitude, so AM recep tion
can be disru pted by such things as lightning, power lines
and neon signs.
FM Reception
Because FM transm ission is based on frequ ency varia-
tions, interference that consists of amplitude variations
can be filtered out, leaving the recep tion relatively clear,
which is the major featu re of FM rad io.
