If frequ ent coolant additions are requ ired , or if the
level in the coolant recovery bottle does not drop when
the engine cools, the cooling system shou ld be pres-
sure tested for leaks.
Hoses and Vacuum/Vapor Harnesses
Insp ect surfaces of hoses and nylon tubing for evid ence
of heat and mechanical damage. Hard or soft spots,
brittle rubber, cracking, tears, cuts, abrasions, and exces-
sive swelling ind icate deterioration of the rubber.
Maintain coolant concentration at 50% HOAT engine
coolant (minim um) and distilled water for prop er
corrosion protection of you r engine, which contains
aluminu m components.
Pay particu lar attention to those hoses nearest to high
heat sou rces such as the exhau st manifold . Insp ect hose
rou ting to be sure hoses do not come in contact with any
heat sou rce or moving component, which may cause heat
damage or mechanical wear.
Make sure that the rad iator and coolant recovery
bottle overflow hoses are not kinked or obstru cted .
