STARTING AND OPERATING

Improp er alignm ent will not cause vehicle vibration.
Vibration may be a resu lt of tire and wheel out-of-
balance. Prop er balancing will red uce vibration and
avoid tire cupping and spotty wear.
CAUTIO N!
To avoid damage to you r veh icle or tires, observe the follow ing
precau tion s:
•
Because of restricted chain clearan ce betw een tires and oth er
suspension components, it is importan t that only chain s in
good condition are used . Broken chain s can cause seriou s
damage. Stop the veh icle immediately if noise occurs that
could indicate chain break age. Remove the damaged parts of
the chain before furth er use.
SELF-SEALING TIRES — IF EQUIPPED
A non-hard ening viscou s sealant applied to the inner
liner of each tire fills punctu res up to 0.19 in. (5 mm) to
minim ize the loss of air pressu re. This contribu tes to the
safety of the vehicle by significantly red ucing the prob-
ability of a road side stop due to a flat tire.

TIRE CHAINS
Drive cautiou sly and avoid severe turns and large bumps,
esp ecially with a load ed veh icle.
Use only compact chains, or other traction aids that meet
SAE type “Class S” specifications. Chains must be the
proper size for the vehicle, as recommended by the chain
manu facturer. In addition, only install tire chains on
P215/ 65 R17 and P225/ 60 R18 size tires. The P245/ 45 R20
size tires do not provid e adequate clearance for tire chains.
• Use on Rear Wheels only.
• Do not drive for prolon ged period on dry pavem ent.
•
Observe the tire chain manufactu rer’s instru ction s on the
meth od of installation , operatin g speed , and condition s for
use. Always use the lower suggested operatin g speed of the
chain manufactu rer if differen t from the speed recom mended
by the manufactu re.
NOTE: Do not use tire chains on a compact spare tire.
