Automatic Compass Calibration
The autom atic calibrating featu re of the compass elimi-
nates the need to calibrate the compass due to norm al
varying cond itions.
Compass Variance Selection
Variance is the difference betw een magnetic North and
geograp hic North. For prop er compass function, the
correct variance zone must be set. Refer to the variance
map for the correct variance zone. To check the variance
zone, the ignition switch must be on and the compass/
tem peratu re displayed . Press and hold the STEP button
for abou t 5 to 10 second s until ZON E and the nu mber
appears in the display. The nu mber displayed is the
variance zone used by the compass. To change the zone,
press the STEP button to scroll throu gh nu mbers 1
throu gh 15.
When the correct variance is selected release the step
button and the Com pass/ Temperatu re display will re-
turn to norm al after approxim ately 15 second s.
