FUEL REQUIREMENTS
Standard Engine and 2.4L Standard Turbo
The use of high quality unlead ed gasoline having an
octane rating of 91 is recom mend ed but not requ ired .
High quality unlead ed gasoline having a minu mum
octane rating of 87 may safely be used for you r vehicle.
Use of these lower octane gasolines, how ever, may resu lt
in red uced acceleration perform ance.
2.4L
Engine
Your vehicle is designed to meet all emis-
sion regu lations and provid e excellent fuel
econom y when using high quality regu lar
unlead ed gasoline with an octane rating of
Light spark knock at low engine speed s is not harm ful to
you r engine. However, continu ed heavy spark knock at
high speed s can cause damage and immediate service is
requ ired . Engine damage resu lting from operating with a
heavy spark knock may not be covered by the new
vehicle warranty.

The use of prem ium gasoline is not
recom mend ed. The use of prem ium gaso-
line will provid e no benefit over high quality regu lar
gasolines, and in som e circumstances, may resu lt in
poorer perform ance.

High Output Turbo Engine
Your engine is designed to meet all emis-
sion regu lations and provid e excellent fuel
econom y and perform ance when using
high quality unlead ed gasoline having an
octane rating of 91. The purchase of higher
octane is not requ ired .
Poor quality gasoline can cause problem s such as hard
starting, stalling and hesitations. If you experience these
sym ptom s, try another brand of gasoline (with the ap-
prop riate octane rating for you r engine) before consid er-
ing service for the vehicle.
