STARTING AND OPERATING
POWER ASSISTED STEERING
The power assisted steering system of you r vehicle
provid es mechanical steering capability in the event
power assist is lost.
If for som e reason the hyd rau lic pressu re is interru pted ,
it will still be possible to steer you r vehicle. Und er these
cond itions you will observe a substantial increase in
steering effort.
TRACTION CONTROL β IF EQUIPPED
The Traction Control System will improve acceleration
and steering on slippery surfaces by red ucing tire spin.
The system red uces wheel slip and maintains traction at
the driving (front) wheels by engaing the brake on the
wheel that is losing traction. When this occurs the TRAC
ind icator light located above the instru ment cluster
odometer will flash. The system operates at speed s below
A push-bu tton at the center of the instru ment panel,
below the rad io, turns the Traction Control System ON or
OFF.
The system is alw ays in the βON β mode unless:

The TRAC OFF switch has been used to turn the
system off;

mph (64 km/ h).
