Lower Anchors and Tether for CHild ren (LATCH )
Your vehicle is equ ipped with the child restraint anchor-
age system called LATCH, which stand s for Lower
Anchors and Tether for CHildren. The LATCH system
provid es for the installation of the child restraint withou t
using the vehicle seat belt. All three rear seating positions
have exclusive lower anchorages located at the rear of the
seat cushion. They are rou nd bars, part of the seat and
bod y stru cture, and are read ily visible. In addition, there
are tether strap anchorages behind each rear seating
position, located in the rear surface of the seat back.

Child restraints system s having attachm ents designed to
connect to the lower anchorages are now available. Child
restraints having tether strap s and hooks for connection
to the top tether anchorage have been available for som e
time. In fact, many child restraint manu factu rers will
provid e add-on tether strap kits for som e of their older
prod ucts. Tether anchorage kits are also available for
most older vehicles.
