AUTOSTICK — IF EQUIPPED
This range  eliminates  shifts  into Overd rive.  The transaxle
will  operate   norm ally in  first  and  second   while  in  this
range.
Autostick  is  a driver-interactive    transm ission  that  offers
manu al gear  shifting capability   to provid e you with  more
control.  Autostick   allow s you  to maxim ize  engine  brak-
ing,  eliminate  und esirable  upshifts   and  downshifts,   and
improve   overall   vehicle  perform ance.   This  system  can
also  provid e you  with  more  control  during  passing,   city
driving,    cold   slippery   cond itions,   mountain    driving,
trailer  tow ing, and  many  other  situ ations.
NOTE:   Using  the  “3” range  while  operating  the  vehicle
und er  heavy  operating   cond itions  will  improve   perfor-
mance,  fuel econom y, and  extend  transaxle  life by  red uc-
ing  excessive  shifting  and  heat  build  up.

Use  the   “3”  range   when   descend ing   steep  grad es   to
prevent  brake  system   distress.
Autostick Operation
The Autostick   position  is just  below  the  Overd rive posi-
tion and  is identified   by the  word  “AUTOSTICK”.  When
you  place the  shift  lever  in the Autostick   position,  it  can
be moved   from side  to side.  Moving  the  lever  to the  left
(-) triggers   a downshift   and   to the  right  (+)  an  upshift.
The gear  position  will  be show n in the  transm ission  gear
display,  located  in  the instru ment  cluster.

Low
This range  shou ld  be used  for maxim um  engine  braking
when  descend  ing  steep  grad es.  In this  range,   up  shifts
will occur  only to  prevent  engine  over speed  while  down
shifts  from  2nd to  first will  occur  as early  as  possible.
