THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE STARTING YOUR VEHICLE
Because the lower anchorages are to be introd uced to
passenger carrying vehicles over a period of years, child
restraint system s having attachm ents for those anchor-
ages will continu e to have featu res for installation in
vehicles using the lap or lap/ shou lder belt. They will also
have tether strap s, and you are urged to take advantage
of all of the available attachm ents provid ed with you r
child restraint in any vehicle.
WARN ING!
Do not install child restrain t system s equipped with
LATCH attach ments at all three rear seatin g posi-
tion s at one tim e. The LATCH anchorages are de-
sign ed to restrain no more than two child restrain ts
at a tim e in the even t of a collision .
Installin g the Child Restrain t System
We urge that you carefu lly follow the directions of the
manu factu rer when installing you r child restraint. Many,
but not all, restraint system s will be equ ipped with
separate strap s on each side, with each having a hook or
connector and a means for adjusting the tension in the
While there are LATCH anchorages at all three rear
seating positions, do not install child restraints at all three
positions at the sam e time. The anchorages are not
designed to restrain three child restraints at one time.
Instead , you may install one child restraint at the center
position, or two child restraints at the right and left
positions.
