MAINTENANCE SCHEDULES
EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM MAINTENANCE
The “Sched uled” maintenance services, listed in bold
typ e must be done at the times or mileages specified to
assu re the continu ed prop er functioning of the emission
control system . These, and all other maintenance services
inclu ded in this manu al, shou ld be done to provid e best
vehicle perform ance and reliability. More frequ ent main-
tenance may be need ed for vehicles in severe operating
cond itions such as dusty areas and very short trip
driving.
MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE
There are three maintenance sched ules that show re-
quired service for you r vehicle.

First is Sched ule “B”—ALL ENGINES. It is for vehicles
that are operated und er the cond itions that are listed
below and at the beginning of the sched ule.
• Day and night tem peratu res are below 32° F (0° C).

Stop and go driving.
Extensive engine idling.
Insp ection and service also shou ld be done any time a
malfunction is suspected .
• Driving in dusty cond itions.
Short trip s of less than 10 miles (16 km).

NOTE: Maintenance, rep lacem ent, or rep air of the emis-
sion control devices and system s on you r vehicle may be
perform ed by any autom otive rep air establishm ent or
ind ivid ual using any autom otive part which has been
certified pursu ant to U.S. EPA or, in the State of Califor-
nia, California Air Resou rces Board regu lations.
More than 50% of you r driving is at sustained high
speed s during hot weather, above 90° F (32° C).
