Using ABS
Whenhardbrakingisrequired,applycontinuous
forceonthebrakepedal;donotpumpthebrake
pedalsincethiswillreducetheeffectivenessofthe
ABSandwillincreaseyourvehicle’ sstopping
distance.TheABSwillbeactivatedimmediately,
allowingyoutoretainfullsteeringcontrolduring
hardbrakingandonslipperysurfaces.However,the
ABSdoesnotdecreasestoppingdistance.
Hydraulicbrakeboostersystem(Hydroboost)
(ifequipped)
TheHydroboostsystemreceivesfluidpressurefrom
thepowersteeringpumptoprovidepowerassist
duringbraking.
ForHydroboost-equippedvehiclesoperatingunder
normalconditions,thenoiseofthefluidflowing
throughtheboostermaybeheardwheneverthe
brakeisapplied.Thisconditionisnormal;vehicle
serviceisnotrequired.
Ifbrakingperformanceorpedalresponsebecomes
verypoor,evenwhenthepedalisstrongly
depressed,itmayindicatethepresenceofairinthe
hydraulicsystemorleakageoffluid.Stopthevehicle
safelyassoonaspossibleandseekservice
immediately.

brake(1),pullthe
parkingbrakehandle
upasfaraspossible.
