tractionsurface.Undernormalconditions,the
Traction-Lokaxlefunctionslikeastandardrearaxle.
Extendeduseofotherthanthemanufacturer’s
specifiedsizetiresonaTraction-Lokrearaxlecould
resultinapermanentreductionineffectiveness.
Thislossofeffectivenessdoesnotaffectnormal
drivingandshouldnotbenoticeabletothedriver.
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION OPERATION
(IF EQUIPPED)
Brake-shift interlock
Thisvehicleisequippedwithabrake-shiftinterlock
featurethatpreventsthegearshiftleverfrombeing
movedfromP(Park)whentheignitionisintheON
positionunlessthebrakepedalisdepressed.
IfyoucannotmovethegearshiftleveroutofP
(Park)withignitionintheONpositionandthe
brakepedaldepressed:
1.
Applytheparkingbrake,turnignitionkeyto
LOCK,thenremovethekey.
2.
InsertthekeyandturnittoOFF.Applythe
brakepedalandshifttoN(Neutral).
WhenthekeyisintheignitionOFF
position,theautomatictransmissionshift
levercanbemovedfromtheP(Park)position
withoutthebrakepedaldepressed.Toavoid
unwantedvehiclemovement,alwayssetthe
parkingbrake.
3.
Startthevehicle.
Ifitisnecessarytousetheaboveprocedureto
movethegearshiftlever,itispossiblethatafuse
hasblownorthevehicle’sbrakelampsarenot
operatingproperly.RefertoFusesandrelaysinthe
Roadsideemergencieschapter.
