Note:Usethefollowingprocedurewhenrefillingthe
coolingsystemofavehicleequippedwitha3.8LV6
engine.Failuretofollowthisproceduremayresult
indamagetotheengineandenginecoolingsystem.
Thefollowingprocedureshouldbeusedwhen
refillingthecoolingsystemofa3.8LV6engineafter
ithasbeendrainedorbecomeextremelylow.

coolantreservoir.
Removethecap

Openthecooling

Removetheradiator
capaspreviously
outlined.

Adda50/50mixtureofenginecoolantand
distilledwatertotheradiatoruntilfull.

Adda50/50mixtureofenginecoolantand
distilledwatertotheenginecoolantreservoiruntil
thecoolantlevelisatthe“coldfilllevel”aslistedon
thereservoir.

Closethecoolingsystemventplug.
Reinstalltheenginecoolantreservoircap.
Reinstalltheradiatorcap.
Starttheengineandrunitat2000–2500rpm
untiltheupperradiatorhoseiswarm(thisindicates
thethermostatisopenandcoolantisflowing
throughtheentiresystem).

Shuttheengineoffandallowittocool.
Wrapathickclotharoundtheradiatorcapand
cautiouslyremovetheradiatorcap.

Adda50/50mixtureofenginecoolantand
distilledwatertotheradiatoruntilfull.

Reinstalltheradiatorcap.
Checkthecoolantlevelinthereservoirbefore
youdriveyourvehiclethenextfewtimes(withthe
enginecool).
