How to change a flat tire
Whenoneofthefrontwheelsisoffthe
ground,thetransmissionalonewillnot
preventthevehiclefrommovingorslippingoffthe
jack,evenifthevehicleisinP(Park)(automatic
transmission)orR(Reverse)(manual
transmission).
Topreventthevehiclefrommovingwhen
youchangeatire,besuretheparkingbrake
isset,thenblock(inbothdirections)thewheel
thatisdiagonallyopposite(othersideandendof
thevehicle)tothetirebeingchanged.
Ifthevehicleslipsoffthejack,youor
someoneelsecouldbeseriouslyinjured.
Donotattempttochangeatireontheside
ofthevehicleclosetomovingtraffic.Pull
farenoughofftheroadtoavoidthedangerof
beinghitwhenoperatingthejackorchangingthe
wheel.
